    • Dr. Ouyang Zhiyun, ESC President

Dr. Ouyang Zhiyun is a professor and Director-General at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the ESC President, and Vice President of the Chinese Society of Ecological Economics. Dr. Ouyang Zhiyun is broadly interested in ecosystem services, ecosystem assessment, and biodiversity protection. He has established a regional ecosystem assessment method system, ecological function zoning theory and method, and proposed ecological benefit evaluation theory and method based on the accounting of ecological assets and ecological system gross value.

    • Dr.An Lizhe, ESC Vice President

Dr. Lizhe An is a professor and PhD supervisor of Beijing Forestry University. He now serves as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Beijing Forestry University, Vice President of ESC, Vice President of the Chinese Botany Society, President of the Gansu Botany Society, Vice President of the Science Specialty Committee of China Higher Education Society, and Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for Biological Sciences of the Ministry of Education. Mr. An Lizhe has long been engaged in teaching and scientific research in plant physiology and ecology, plant molecular biology and environmental biology. He has researched and established an evaluation system for the effects of enhanced UV-B radiation on plants, evaluated the ecological effects of ozone layer thinning on the ecosystem, and revealed the internal mechanism of desert ecosystem stability, the physiological ecology and molecular biology mechanism of periglacial plants to adapt to extreme environments so as to provide scientific basis for revealing the formation mechanism of cushion plant community and the formation, development and ecological functions of alpine ecosystems .

    • Dr.An Lizhe, ESC Vice President

Dr. Liding Chen is a professor and PhD supervisor of the Research Center for Eco-Environment Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He now serves as the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Urban and Regional Ecology, ESC Vice President, Vice President of the International Association for Landscape Ecology, Deputy Director of the Ecology and Nature Conservation Branch of the Chinese Environmental Sciences Association, and Deputy Director of the Land Ecology Branch of the Chinese Land Science Society. Mr. Chen Liding is mainly engaged in research on landscape pattern and ecological process, environmental effects of land use change, landscape ecological planning and regional ecological security. He has achieved outstanding progress in the analysis of landscape pattern, regional ecological security and sustainable development. He has put forward the concept of "source" and "sink" landscape and the evaluation method of landscape pattern based on the "source-sink" process, established a quantitative identification method for patch edge effects based on landscape suitability evaluation and a landscape ecology method for the design of functional areas in nature reserves, and proposed a technical system and method for ecological restoration and regional ecological security along the long-distance pipeline.

    • Dr. Ouyang Zhiyun, ESC President

Dr. Yonglong Lu is a Chair Professor of Xiamen University, and Distinguished Professor of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).  He is also a Professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and an Affiliate Professor of Renmin University of China, University of Science and Technology of China, and Auburn University, USA. He used to be Director General for CAS International Cooperation (2007-2012), and Deputy Director General for CAS Comprehensive Planning (2001-2007).

Dr. Lu is an elected Fellow of TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences); a foreign member of Academia Europaea (AE); past President of Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE); President of Pacific Science Association (PSA); Member of International Resource Panel, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP/IRP); Science Advisor of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); former member of Committee on Scientific Planning and Review, International Council for Sciences (ICSU/CSPR); Vice President of Ecological Society of China; Chair of Committee on Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Chinese Society for Sustainable Development. He also serves as a Science Advisor to UNESCO Biotechnology Research Center, National Research Institute of Humanity and Nature (RIHN) of Japan, and a jury member for the category of Ecology and Conservation Biology, BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards. He was an international review panelist for both Future Earth and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), two biggest international initiatives launched by International Science Council, United Nations, and other international organizations.

His research interests include: Sustainability ecology, ecological impacts and risk assessment of emerging pollutants, pollution and climate change interaction, sustainable coastal ecosystems management, urban ecological planning and assessment, environmental management and emergency response, and environmental technology innovation and diffusion policies.

As an active environmental ecologist, he has published 360 papers in peer reviewed journals such as Science, Nature, Science Advances, PNAS, Nature Comm., Nano Today, ISME J., Environ Int., Environ S&T, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Review, Environ Pollution, J Hazardous Mat., Sci. Total Environ, Chemosphere, J Environ Management, J Environ Quality, Environ Sci. and Policy, Environ Management, AMBIO, Ecosystem Health and Sustainability, Environ Development, Current Opinion in Environ Sustainability, and Energy Policy. He has authored or co-authored 17 books, and his papers and books have been widely cited and appreciated with some of them listed as classical citations. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Ecosystem Health and Sustainability jointly appointed by the Ecological Society of America and Ecological Society of China through a global search process, an Associate Editor of Science Advances, the founder and Associate Editor of Environmental Development: Trans-disciplinary Journal of SCOPE, Associate Editor of Acta Ecologica Sinica, and an editorial board member of Journal of Sustainability Research, Chemistry and Ecology, Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, Global Transitions, Geography and Sustainability, and other peer-reviewed journals. He was the Guest Editor of a supplementary issue of Science magazine “Science in the Chinese Academy of Sciences” (2012).

He has accumulated three decades experience in international development and in the coordination of international activities, taking leadership positions in national or multinational organizations. He has been invited by the UN, UNEP, UNESCO, UNDP, APEC, ICSU, SCOPE, IAC, TWAS and IIASA many times to make presentations or keynote speeches at international conferences or forums, and to serve on various expert panels. He has been a project leader/coordinator or chief scientist for some 50 national or international cooperative projects, and served on several expert consultation groups for environmental decision-making at various levels of the Chinese government.

He has obtained various awards and honors from the State Council of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other national or international organizations, including the 2nd Prize of National Award for Advancement of Science and Technology, 1st Prize in Science and Technology for Promoting Development by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2nd Prize and 3rd Prize for Advancement of Science and Technology by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Scientist, Green Design International Contribution Award, SCOPE Distinguished Achievement Award, and Scientific Chinese 2019 Outstanding Contribution Award.

    • Dr.Min Qingwen, ESC Vice President

Dr. Qingwen Min is a professor and PhD supervisor of the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR/CAS), Director of the Research Division of Resource Ecology and Biological Resources and Deputy Director of the Center for Natural and Cultural Heritage, IGSNRR/CAS. Prof. Min is also Co-chair of the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS) initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Executive chair of the East Asia Research Association for Agricultural Heritage Systems (ERAHS), Chairman of GIAHS Expert Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is mainly engaged in the research of ecosystem service function and ecological compensation, ecological agriculture and agri-cultural heritage and ecological agriculture, ecosystems services and ecological compensation, resource ecology and regional sustainable development.

    • Dr.Ren Hai, ESC Vice President

Dr. Hai Ren is a professor and PhD supervisor of restoration ecology at South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He now serves as Director-General of South China Botanical Garden, ESC Vice President, President of the Guangdong Society of Botany, member of the Planning Committee and major administrative decision-making expert in Guangzhou City. His research areas include: ecological restoration of vegetation, conservation of rare and endangered plants. He has authored two English books and 120 English papers.

    • Dr.Wang Kelin, ESC Vice President

Dr. Kelin Wang is a professor and PhD supervisor of the Institute of Subtropical Agricultural, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Subtropical Agricultural, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Huanjiang Observation and Research Station for Karst Ecosystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President of ESC, Standing Director of the Chinese Society of Ecological Economics, President of the Hunan Ecological Society, Member of the Chinese Expert Committee of the Globally Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS), and Vice President of the Chinese Chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE). He has long been engaged in landscape ecology and regional ecology research.

    • Dr.Wang Yanfen, ESC Vice President

Dr. Yanfen Wang is a professor and PhD supervisor of Ecology and the Executive Vice President at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is currently the Vice President of ESC, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Natural Resources, and Independent Director of the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). She has long been engaged in the study of the structure and function of the Eurasian grassland ecosystem, and its response and adaption to human activities and climate change.

    • Dr.Wei Fuwen, ESC Vice President

Dr. Fuwen Wei is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor and PhD supervisor of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The current Vice President of ESC, Deputy Director-General of the Endangered Species Science Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Vice President of the Chinese Zoological Society, President of the Animal Science Branch, President of the Chinese branch of the International Congress for Conservation Biology, and executive member of the World Federation of Animal Scientists. He has been engaged in research on endangered animal ecology and conservation biology for a long time, focusing on the research of conservation ecology, conservation behavior, conservation genetics and conservation genomics of giant pandas and red pandas.

    • Dr.Wu Wenliang, ESC Vice President

Dr. Fuwen Wei is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor and PhD supervisor of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.     • Dr.Zhu Jiaojun, ESC Vice President

Dr. Jiaojun Zhu is a professor and PhD supervisor of the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently the Director-General of the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President of ESC, Head of the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Field Observation and Research Station of the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Liaoning Provincial Ecological Public Welfare Forest Management Key Laboratory. He is mainly engaged in the research of secondary forest ecology and management, protection forest engineering.

    • Dr.Zhong Linsheng, ESC  Secretary General

Dr. Linsheng Zhong is a professor of the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He now serves Secretary-General of ESC, executive deputy director of the Tourism Ecology Professional Committee of ESC, and the member of national park and protected area standardization technology committee of National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China. He is mainly engaged in tourism ecology, ecotourism, tourism geography, protected areas and national park management and other fields.
